Preface to the Mystery
Translated from Dutch
Scripture is for many a closed book, even though it is faithfully read. One doesn't know it's way in it, doesn't see the main lines running through it. The root cause is that people have lost sight of Israel. Israel is the key to unlocking God's Word and the means to penetrate the deeper truths given to us through Paul.
To get this key in your hands, you have to start taking the Scriptures literally, where ever possible. Then it will be seen that the O.T. mainly speaks about Israel's history and future. Numerous prophecies indicate Israel's future restoration and greatness under Christ as Grand King. That line of Israel is being continued in the Gospels. Many people think that we are coming to something entirely new here. One forgets that Christ has become a servant of the Circumcision to confirm the promises of the fathers, Rom. 15:8. Those fathers are Israel's fathers, Rom. 9:5. So Christ came to confirm Israel's promises. The Gentiles would then share in God's salvation, Rom. 15:9. But first in second place. Israel had priority. Christ was first sent to them. He was the King of the Kingdom of heaven. And this Kingdom is the reign of Israel over the kingdoms of the earth, Dan. 2:44; 7:27. They are the people of the saints of the Most High.
As an introduction to the documents about: « The Great Mystery » we want to indicate in a few articles that the Gospels deal with Israel and that there is a difference between the gospel of the Circumcision and that of the Uncircumcision. Only this way, can Paul's unique vocation be understood.
